As a photographer, who especially loves the outdoors, each adventure I go on is wonderful and captivating. I find a new "favorite" spot with every step and I would be hard pressed to say which location I treasure the most. The majestic Black Point Inn and the breakwater of Pine Point Scarborough, Maine is a special place for me. It is where on any given early summer morning, one can see lobster boats making their way through the channel into deeper water to check on their daily catch. Scattered on the beach are fishermen with buckets casting their lines at low ebb digging and raking up bait to fill them. It is here where the birds fly into and over the water where the gentle waves break along the shore. At low tide egrets, herons, and ibis join a party of seagulls for a hardy meal of saltwater delight. Blended into the sand are piping plovers and terns with little, tiny nests, barely visible. Sitting in a colony are a dozen or more bonapartes preening their feathers. An eider swims by with her ducklings and looks back over her shoulder. I've also enjoyed the inner coastal in Texas. While a long drive from my home state my husband has driven it several times with me and our dogs as passengers. We love the beaches and coastline along the Bolivar Peninsula. We take the ferry over to Galveston and stay there. We go back and forth to Smith Oak, and other nature preserves. At one time Rollover Pass was our go to spot for birding but a drive along the beach with pelicans, terns, avocets, sandpipers and much more is awesome as well.
